VESPRE: Virtual Environment for SPacecraft data Routing and Exchange
VESPRE is a high-fidelity testbed emulating the complex interactions of satellite constellations.
Derived from the linguistic roots of the “evening star”, the name signifies the transition, or twilight, between modelling and physical deployment. Hosting up to 1,000 virtual satellites with 1:1 compute parity to their flight-model counterparts, VESPRE creates a digital twin where ‘almost-orbit’ becomes a rigorous testing ground through standalone virtual deployments. In the engineering heart of Glasgow, where the stars are often hidden by the clouds, VESPRE serves as the digital evening star: a constant, reliable environment for pioneering network experiments.
